Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients API in NeuroMed BLT:

Benzocaine:

Benzocaine is the strongest numbing cream for injections, helping to numb the skin. Manufacturers use benzocaine in OTC items like creams, gels, and sprays to offer temporary respite from pain and itching.

Lidocaine:

Anesthetics such as Lidocaine HCl 4% cream are local anesthetic agents commonly used for numbing effects. Compared to benzocaine, it can penetrate deeper into the tissues. Doctors use lidocaine or local anesthetics for many medical procedures, including dental work and minor surgeries. They are also part of creams and gels, such as NeuroMed BLT.

Tetracaine:

Tetracaine is a potent local anesthetic typically used for surface anesthesia or as a component in topical anesthetic formulations. It works by blocking nerve signals in the skin and mucous membranes.

Application Instructions:

  • Clean the treatment area with a gentle cleanser and a damp cloth. This will remove dirt, makeup, or anything else that might block absorption.
  • If using during facial service, disinfect the skin with alcohol.
  • The dosage will depend on the skin type, the aggressiveness of the procedure, the patient’s known pain tolerance, and the surface area.
  • Use the least amount of product necessary to achieve the required local anesthetic.
  • Avoid use on open wounds, broken skin, eyes, ears, nostrils, and mouth
  • Apply a hot compress for 5 minutes to enhance absorption
  • Mix the contents of all three packets in a sterile bowl or a gloved hand.
  • For best effect the recommended dose is 1.5ml/grams per 1″ X 1″ (square area)
  • Using gloves, apply the numbing cream evenly and rub vigorously in circular motions for 1-5 minutes for each area.
  • Apply more anesthetic cream to pain-sensitive areas on the face and body. Concentrate on critical areas such as the forehead, lips, and cheekbones, which tend to be sensitive. Also, pay attention to bony prominences on the body.
  • The peak action begins in approximately 15 – 20 minutes for the cream to numb the area.
  • Some doctors use an occlusive dressing to improve effectiveness. A licensed physician should decide on the type of occlusion, such as plastic wrap, like Press N’ Seal.
  • The total dose of anesthetic should not exceed 10 ml/grams per application
